Febrew Airy
The Spaniards are big fans of this Carnaval thing. I don't know why, well maybe because they are encouraged to dress up and get savagely drunk. They seem to do that every day any way, so I don't see how February 18th will be all that different from today, St. Valentine's.
Single people flock to the bars, contented lovers feed eachother chocolate covered strawberries (a local specialty, somewhat ruined by the coldest winter in 50 years). Weird to think Isaac Hayes isn't around to wish us all a special St. Valentine's Day.
I just watched a recording of the Horace Silver Quintet at The Umbria Jazz Festival in 1976; wow, what a bunch of motherfuckers. Apparently the above track is based on a Japanese scale that they discovered in a book and wrote a melody over. In the live version, the drummer takes a long extended solo and just KILLS it.
Ok, everybody enjoy their day. I have to say goodbye to a special friend.
