Smuse
I have this feeling I completely missed St. Patrick's Day; well at least the drinking portion, I was festooned in the finest green I could find last minute.
You know who looked Irish? Elliott Smith. He also had a thing for quiet, trembling melodies and the occasional gutty guitar hook that has won me over since I was introduced to his music through "The Royal Tenenbaums" scene that always makes me cry.
His last album, released posthumously, that wasn't titled "New Moon" or whatever the fuck that was, came to be known as Songs From a Basement on a Hill. It was supposedly going to be his "White" Album, that was 2006. Crazy to think that Heatmiser's Mic City Sons came out in 1994! 12 years is a serious grind when you're writing music like that guy; in reality he was really incredibly prolific. So, I'll pay tribute, one way or the other, and hope someone finds something in at least one of these tracks.
