Read a Book, Get out of Jail. That's the tagline for this interesting essay on a really intriguing alternative sentencing program up in Massachusets. Mitt Romney was probably not on board with this.

i took a class on catcher in the rye with professor (dr.?) waxler in 8th grade. then in high school the bookstore i worked in sold copies of his wife's book about their son's battle, and eventual overdose, with heroin.

anyway, interesting stuff. he's always seemed like a good guy to me.
