Hip Hoop

Hey, I went to high school with Derrick. One time we played Beat It, yours truly on guitar and himself on the kit. It was a hit with at least 20% of the minorities in attendance at said private K-12 institution.

Everyone likes Galt MacDermot and noone really can say why; allmusic will say his brand of "no-funk" finds its appeal from being so damn cheesy and uncool, people who use the full 10% of their brain would call this unpretentious on the part of señor MacDermot and his personal crew of flunky session players.

Dan The Automator and Prince Paul are blatant fans of the man's jams.

He also wrote the music to the musical HAIR, people younger than myself, who didn't perform in a high school/summer stock/amateur basement version of it, would probably know of the song "Age Of Aquarius" thanks to Judd Apatow directing Steve Carrel, Paul Rudd, Faux-MC Hammer (that poor bastard, might as well have played I NEED $) in The 40 Year Old Virgin

CLick here to add your name to the list of fans of the man's work "Shapes of Rhythm"
